Maintaining a clean kitchen takes some effort. But with determination and a little bit of elbow grease, you can have your kitchen sparkling in no time.
However, while many tend to focus on the more obvious areas of a kitchen, like the countertops, others receive much less attention.
The oven, for example, is definitely one of the more overlooked areas in our beloved homes.
But neglecting your oven can lead to some messy buildups and unpleasant smells. You might find yourself asking, “Is something burning?” more often than you’d like.
That’s where YouTuber, Bethany Fontaine, steps in
In one of her videos, she shows how to get your oven sparkling clean oven with baking soda and white vinegar.
That’s right, just two ingredients can make all the difference. Perhaps it’s time to toss out those expensive cleaners that don’t seem to be working!
Before we begin, first things first, make sure the oven isn’t on!
To start, Fontaine begins by taking the racks out of the oven. Next, she mixes 1 cup of baking soda with 1/3 cup of white vinegar. When it’s mixed, it should be the consistency of a gooey paste.
Then, she takes a towel and begins spreading the mix inside of the oven. She admits that using a sponge would be better. Essentially, it’s up to you!
Also note to make sure you cover the entirety of the oven. Those hard-to-reach areas can be a bit of a hassle but it’s all worth it in the end.
When finished, allow the mixture to sit in the oven overnight.
We know, the wait time is a bummer! The anticipation has already started to set in!
While the mixture sets, Fontaine cleans the oven racks with an all-purpose cleaner and scrubbing brush. Frankly, you can use the same mix that you used on the oven for the racks as well.
Again, it’s up to you.
After the mixture has set for 12 hours, Fontaine fills an empty spray bottle with white vinegar and begins to spray the interior of the oven.
The mixture will fizz when it comes into contact with the vinegar from the bottle. It’s definitely a satisfying sound.
Next, use warm water and a towel to wipe down the oven.
For the areas with a lot of tough buildup, you can use a spatula to scrape away any gunk, including any dried paste.
Finally, wipe out the oven with a cloth.
Violà! Your oven should look brand new!
Keep in mind that if you have a really dirty oven, you might have to spend some extra time scrubbing. But patience goes a long way!
